1. All patients must have NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK (INCLUDING WATER) FOR 8 HOURS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT.
2. Patients with ASTHMA or other BREATHING PROBLEMS must bring their inhaler(s) with them the day of surgery.
3. No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, you should stop smoking at least 1 day prior to surgery.
4. NO CONTACT LENSES SHOULD BE WORN.
5. If you take prescription medicines please check with the doctor prior to surgery.
6. A responsible adult (18 years or older) must accompany the patient to the office, REMAIN IN THE WAITING ROOM DURING THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE, and drive the patient home.
7. The recovery period from general anesthesia varies from patient to patient; however, expect to remain in our recovery room until the treating doctor releases you.
8. Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves that may be rolled up so that monitoring equipment may be correctly positioned.
9. Wrist jewelry and watches should not be worn. All facial / tongue piercings must be removed prior to surgery.
10. Please refrain from driving a motor vehicle, operating any machinery, or ingesting any alcoholic beverages for a period of 24 hours following the procedure.
11. If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, or stomach upset, please notify the office prior to your surgery date.
