Pre-Operative Instructions

All patients must have NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK (INCLUDING WATER) FOR 8 HOURS prior to the scheduled appointment.
A responsible adult (18 years or older) must accompany the patient to the office, REMAIN IN THE WAITING ROOM DURING THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE, and drive the patient home.
Patients with ASTHMA or other BREATHING PROBLEMS must bring inhaler(s) with them the day of surgery.
If you take prescription medicines please check with the doctor prior to surgery.
No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, you should stop smoking at least 1 day prior to surgery. Smoking inhibits healing.
Day of surgery:

No contact lenses

No dark nail polish

No tongue/facial piercings

No jewelry

Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves that may be rolled up so that monitoring equipment may be correctly positioned.
The recovery period from intravenous/general anesthesia varies from patient to patient. Expect to remain in our recovery room until the treating doctor releases you.
If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, or stomach upset, please notify the office prior to your surgery date.
Please be advised for the first 24 hours following surgery it is recommended to:

Rest the day of surgery and the next day

Refrain from driving

Abstain from operating machinery

Avoid mixing alcohol and prescribed pain medication
